Chrome extension will not install - new Google policy.
It appears that the current Chrome beta (and thus a future version of Chrome) will only allow the installation of extensions through the Chrome store. Google's help indicates that this is the way it will be going forward.
Is there a work-around, such as pointing to a copy of the crx file hosted in the Chrome store?
Edit: I should note that I was able to install the extension through the work-around (downloading and dragging into the extensions tab), but it isn't clear to most users what they will need to do.
Hi Victor, I'm a product manager working in Beijing. I also got this problem, just look at these images below.
I followed this introduction to install the Axure RP extension 0.5 for Chrome, but when I go to "Tools -> Extensions" and try to check "Allow access to file URLs" for the Axure RP Extension, something interesting is happened. There is no "Allow access to file URLs" could be clicked.
I've just started on Axure, but can't download the Axure RP extension for chrome, it says its happening/downloading but its not in downloads and in chrome's tools_extensions; and I'm not asked if I want to perform a download (get the extension) either; I get the following info:
An Error has occurred
This item is already being downloaded and added into chrome
Reload or Close
- I try reload and same-same
- I look in chrome tools_extensions and there's nothing:
Boo... You have no extensions :-( Want to browse the gallery instead?
- I browse for it and try again but get the same as above
I can’t continue the tutorial, please help me I’m in urgent need for solution.
