Axure RP, Firefox, and UTF-8

We recently released an update to Axure RP Pro, version 4.4.1.745. Not so coincidentally, this update was released 5 days after Firefox released version 2.0.0.2.

With the release of Firefox 2.0.0.2, there was a change in the way Firefox rendered UTF-8 characters (such as letters with accents). This caused Axure RP prototypes that contained UTF-8 characters to render with some strange symbols after each character. We immediately heard from a number of Axure RP users in Europe and Latin America and released Axure RP Pro 4.4.1.745 with the fix.

A handful of other issues were also resolved in this release including:

  • Suppressed beeping when editing interactions (discussed in the forums)
  • Optimization for switching between wireframes
  • Fixed some issues with table editing
  • Fixed Ctrl+Arrow nudging (discussed in the forums)

For a more complete list, you can take a look at the release history.

This update is free to customers who purchased a license or renewal after 1/1/2006.
