How has Axure prototypes helped with implementation?

    HI All

I have just started using Axure RP and managed to create prototypes and spec and it all looks great. My next stage is to implement the prototype.

Just out of interested, how has the prototypes helped with your implementation? Do you use the html and css files and copy the code out to help create your guis? I'm using Visual Studio, anyone used their prototypes to create webforms etc... How useful have you found your prototypes in terms of helping you to develop the actual design?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Elly,

In general, the code produced in the prototype is not intended for production use. We have heard from some customers who use the prototype as an intranet site or a site for their personal use, but not for more public applications. More typically, if content is collected in the prototype, it can help to copy and paste the text from the prototype into the development environment.

We use it to do usability prototyping. We post the info to our website and then as we talk to customers and designers and others we change the prototype and upload it to site. After things have settled down with the basic link layout and navigation and content, then we move to the real, make it artsy and weby, like other sites and then add the database features, ecommerce etc. We feel it is better to do the roughing in with Axure since it is so darned quick and easy and gives more that a rough idea - it gives a great idea on the navigability of the site before we spend big bucks that a less flexible as far as change orders go.
