It would be useful that if there was a toggle on the prototype that toggled the visibility of the annotations for viewers of the prototype to click around it without the icons getting in the way. Maybe just a button at the top of the right frame  that said "Show/Hide annotations" that makes them all the items with a class of "annnoteimage" have a class with display: none;

I totally agree. I've had some prototypes that were so annotated, one could hardly see / interact with the interface underneath.
