    Question iPad prototype

    Hello
I'm trying the mobile features of Axure RP Beta and got stuck with something, maybe someone can help me.

    if you have an iPod
    1- open this address
    http://files.zemoga.com/IA_Testing/i...1/Wigshop.html

2- click on "Upload an Image"

3- try to drag the image

If you test it on a desktop you'll find that it works...

Q1: how can I make drag and drop work on the iPad?
Q2: Is there a way to assign hand gestures to the interaction?

Hi zinkzone, we haven't tested drag and drop on the iPad but my guess is that the touch gestures are interfering with the mousedown and mousemove through the browser. We are looking into support for touch gesture interactions. That is something we'd really like the prototypes to support.

Any idea when we'll see a fix for this issue? It's really hard to prototype a mobile app without touch/drag gestures.

Hi jddj, looking deeper into this for the next feature release along with evaluating tough gestures in general. Could be towards the end of the year. If you get a chance, I'd like to know the list of touch events you would have needed for the project you're working on.

    Hi Victor
I've been working a lot on Mobile prototypes in Axure RP 6 this year.
I found that the drag-and-drop gesture works fine.
It would be cool to add the Flick gesture to change panel states.
A very important gesture is the pinch and spread option to zoom in and out.
A "double tap" and "press gesture" would be nice too, the capability to rotate and change size also.
And I know is a MAJOR add, but, the portrait and Landscape view option/transition is so very important for the iA and UX.

Hope is not a lot... hahaha , but those changes would be awesome!!!
    Thank you!!!

Hi zinkzone, thank you. Version 6.5 beta (www.axure.com/beta) has a way to detect flicks/swipes. I think Paul is going to post a sample soon. The other events and the transition are on our minds too

    Hey Victor,

What is the difference between "detecting flicks/swipes" and the OnDrag event? In 6.5 will there be a way to detect types of swypes like pinch and rotate?

    Thanks!

Hi Erik, I think a flick and a swipe are equivalent. The OnDrag event is triggered when the dynamic panel is pressed and dragged. Using that event you can move the panel "with drag" for example.

OnSwipe is part of 6.5 for left and right directions. But there isn't support yet for multi-touch gestures like pinch and rotate. Still figuring out the best way to incorporate those.

I could really use Pinch/Zoom right now. I was just approached to prototype an iPad app and pinch/zoom is a key means of interacting with the application.

I've been using Axure on and off for a couple of years and would prefer to not have to change horses at this point.

hi agmilmoe, one way that this can be "shown" is to use gesture icons and clicking the icon performs the relevant pinch/zoom response. We're looking at how to best support this.

    Hey Zinkzone,

Really enjoyed the prototype you have put together. The Wig Shop is especially neat, but then again I have a thing for complexity

I have a quick question about the first of your 2 carousels. I understand the basic technique which is demonstrated here iOS Carousel Example with Axure. However, I was wondering how you accomplished the 3D shading effect.

If I had to take a guess you used a dynamic panel with states, where each state is a custom image (Photoshopped?) with transitions between images (since Axure does not yet allow for skewing of a vector image).

    Hi light_forger,

    Thanks for the compliment!!!

You're right about the dynamic panels, but its not Photoshop, its Swift 3D!
