We love SVN, and it’s still a great option for hosting Team Projects when you need team members to work on the same project at the same time. But we wanted to make it easier for you to set up a team project, and also see if we could speed up checkins and checkouts.

For version 8, we created a custom solution that’s built into Axure Share. If you are using the Team edition, you’ll be able to host Team Projects on Axure Share. We’ll take care of the servers, and you can focus on collaborating with your team.

Axure Share’s versioning system is streamlined to do only what we need for Team Projects. It excludes many of the steps that SVN provides in order to handle general version control. Early tests show a significant improvement in speed.

You’ll still be able to set up your own Team Projects on a shared network drive or another SVN server. Axure Share will simply be an additional option for you.

If you’re not able to use hosted solutions such as Axure Share, we’re working on a private version that can be installed behind the company firewall. If you’re interested in learning more about this option, please email us at support@axure.com.

One final note: we’re still figuring out the terms around the use of team projects on Axure Share. But for the Beta, it’ll be an open sandbox for existing Axure RP Pro customers. You’ll be able to explore and use it as much as you want during the Beta. If you’d like to know when the Beta is available, sign up for our newsletter, and we’ll let you know the day it comes out.
